One of the advantages of Ceph is that it is developed to run on commodity hardware. This also makes it possible to set up and maintain data clusters in the petabyte range in a way that is economically feasible. Thanks to PXE boot, no disks are required for the operating systems of the nodes, all disks are available to the cluster.
